What is social media
Officially, social media is an umbrella term that includes various activities that incorporate technology, social interaction but also the creation of articles, images, video and audio.
Why are they so important?
Because 2/3 of the online active population uses them. Because visiting social sites is the 4th most popular online activity, above and beyond reading emails. Because it has to do with interaction and dialogue. Companies through social media aim to develop a special bond with users – consumers in order to fulfill their strategic goals, such as sales, public relations, branding, and even customer service and generally everything related to advertising.

- 64% of twitter users say they are more likely to buy from a company they follow, while 51% of facebook users say the same thing.
- 81% of facebook fans say they have an emotional connection with a particular brand, with 87% of them being satisfied compared to 49% of non-fans.
- 38% state that they want to become a fan of a brand on Facebook, if they see that a member of their family is a fan, while 34% will do the same just by seeing someone they already know.
